What’s A Dune Tour All About – What Will I See on My Cape Cod Dune Tour?
Imagine dunes stretching as far as you can see with wispy beach grass, dark green pine trees and deep red beach plums nestled in hollows which are brought together by a silhouette of blue sky. You will travel through the majestic dunes where your guide points out the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers like Eugene O’Neill and Harry Kemp became inspired to create their art.
You will also pass the remains of the Peaked Hill Life Saving Station and learn how the brave “life savers” enacted their heroic efforts to save the lives of thousands from the doomed shipwrecks! It is such a beautiful tour. You will be amazed at what you will see on our Cape Cod Dune Tours!
Take a tour of the peaked hill bars historic district sand dunes on the Provincetown Cape Cod National Seashore protected lands. Make your Provincetown vacation memories extra special with this delightful look into the natural beauty of the Cape Cod Sand Dunes and the true New England tradition of steamed lobster, clams, corn, and of course Clam Chowder or Portuguese Kale Soup.
DUNE TOURS:
Daily Trips begin at 10 AM and ending with our special sunset tour at approximately 5:30 PM. We do request that you check departure times on the day of your tours for the exact time of your departing tour. Our daily trips are a one hour narrated tour through the historic sand dunes and National Seashore Park.
Fun and Safe For All! Our Fleet of Suburbans are enclosed and air conditioned for a comfortable ride over the mountains of sand. Each vehicle holds 6-8 passengers.
At certain times during the season, beach access may be restricted due to nesting shore birds and/or erosion.Trips depart daily at 10AM, 11AM, 1PM, 2:30pm and 4 PM. Reservations may be made.

- Enjoy extended time within the Cape Cod National Seashore!
- Experience our very scenic and fascinating One Hour Dune Tour that includes history and views of the historic Dune Shacks.
- Then travel to Pilgrim Heights, the Pilgrims first watering hole, for a quick rest stop before heading to East Harbor’s shore. (restroom break)
- The guide will help gear everyone up with life preservers and a quick overview of the flat water excursion.
- As we all paddle the salt waters of East Harbor, your guide will point out various geological and ecological aspects of this intriguing “old harbor”.
- A wonderful lunch will be served on the lake in the raft as we enjoy a very different view of the beautiful sand dunes.
- Be prepared to get a little wet and a little exercise.
Lunch options:
- Roast Turkey with Balsamic Vinaigrette, Tomato, Greens and Cucumber on French Roll
- Italian: Genoa Salami and Hot Capicola with Provolone, Sweet Heat (banana peppers, red peppers & pineapple; it’s a little pickley, a little swee,t and a tiny bit spicy), Tomato, Greens and Balsamic on French Roll
- Quinoa Chickpea wrap with Asian Pickled Veggies, Hoisin Sauce Cucumber and Greens on a Wrap (This dish is Vegan)
- For people who are gluten intolerant we could do a Mixed Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette and scoop of Tuna Salad
What to wear/bring:
- Water shoes or old sneakers. No flip flops allowed.
- Sunscreen and sunglasses
- Waterproof camera is recommended
- Clothing that is comfortable and you don’t mind getting a little wet.
- Towel and change of clothes are optional.
- Do NOT bring alcohol as we do not allow any during the excursion
