My name is Desiree Sousa and I am the owner of Gay Travel Information and We Are Gay Friendly.

My involvement in the gay hospitality industry started many years ago when I launched Out & About Travel in 1999 out of my genuine love of travel and the desire to provide the gay community with the many options available to them. We were one of the first online travel agencies specializing in gay travel and are considered “pioneers of the online gay & lesbian travel industry.” 

In 2010 Out & About Travel evolved into Gay Travel Information. I was looking for a creative way to make the switch from travel agency to Marketing/PR – servicing the same companies/events I worked with as Out & About Travel for over a decade. 

Today Gay Travel Information receives 125k hits per month and has become a leading source of information for the LGBTQ community and its allies when searching for businesses to support.

It is the place where my colleagues and I not only help promote businesses/events but also, many times, share personal experiences via hotel, restaurant, product and event spotlights. 

In 2013, I launched We Are Gay Friendly, a directory listing globally LGBTQ friendly businesses.

Through these sites, my goal has always been to help the LGBTQ community support each other and our allies. 

I want my clients and readers to feel welcomed at the travel destinations they visit, the hotels they stay at, the restaurants they eat at, the clubs they dance at, the events they attend and feel good about the companies they support.
