My name is Desiree Sousa and I am the owner of Out & About Travel, Gay Travel Information and We Are Gay Friendly.

Out & About Travel is a full service, online gay travel agency specializing in gay & lesbian tours, cruises, adventure travel, gay ski trips, customized packages and more.

I started Out & About Travel back in 1999 out of my genuine love of travel and the desire to provide the gay & lesbian community with the many options available to them. We were one of the first online travel agencies specializing in LGBTQ travel and are considered “pioneers of the online gay & lesbian travel industry.” 

Throughout the years I have traveled to many popular gay & lesbian travel destinations throughout the world and have gained hands on knowledge of all the gay & lesbian hot spots! 

Our web site, http://www.gaytravelpros.com literally has hundreds of travel options available for the gay & lesbian traveler. 

One of the things that sets Out & About Travel apart from others, besides the fact that I am absolutely passionate about what I do, is the fact that we are a small, independent company that does not charge a service fee. We do all the research free of charge AND it doesn’t cost a penny more to book through us! Unfortunately many people think it will cost extra if they book with a travel agent. This is not the case with us.

In 2010 I started Gay Travel Information. I was looking for a creative way I and my colleagues could share honest, respectful opinions of the many businesses and events we frequent.

What sets Gay Travel Information apart is that we don’t just focus on “the usual” LGBTQ owned bars, cafes and inns and we don’t just focus on businesses that list themselves as “LGBTQ friendly” because of an affixed rainbow sticker on the front of a window or flying rainbow flag outside their business.

Gay Travel Information spotlights the hippest and hottest spots, providing the best experience for everyone in what we consider to be a warm, welcoming environment. After all, most places these days will label themselves as LGBTQ friendly. We only spotlight businesses that we feel offer a truly great product. Something we are proud to give our personal “stamp of approval” to based on factors such service and quality of product. 

In November 2013, I launched We Are Gay Friendly, a directory listing LGBTQ friendly businesses around the world. 

My goal is to help the LGBTQ community support each other and our allies. I want my clients to feel welcomed at the travel destinations they visit, the hotels they stay at, the restaurants they eat at, the clubs they dance at, the events they attend and feel good about the companies they support.
