Hello! I’m Desiree Sousa, proud Owner and Editor-in-Chief of Gay Travel Information and We Are Gay Friendly Business Directory.
My journey in the LGBTQ+ hospitality and travel industry began in 1999 with the launch of Out & About Travel. Fueled by my passion for travel and my commitment to providing the LGBTQ+ community with welcoming, inclusive travel options, Out & About Travel became one of the first online travel agencies specializing in gay and lesbian travel — helping pave the way as a pioneer in the online LGBTQ+ travel industry.
In 2010, Out & About Travel evolved into Gay Travel Information, reflecting my vision of transitioning from a traditional travel agency into a dedicated Marketing and PR platform while continuing to support the businesses, destinations, and events I had proudly worked with for over a decade.
Today, Gay Travel Information welcomes more than 150,000 monthly visitors and has become a trusted resource for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Gay Travel Information promotes LGBTQ+-friendly businesses, destinations, products, and events while also sharing our own authentic experiences through lodging, restaurant, product, and event spotlights.
In 2013, I launched We Are Gay Friendly, a global directory dedicated to showcasing LGBTQ+-friendly businesses around the world.
Through both platforms, my mission has always been simple: to help uplift, connect, and support the LGBTQ+ community and the allies who stand beside us.
