LAKE PLACID, NY – Hotel North Woods, Lake Placid’s newly renovated Main Street hotel, is offering a pet-friendly package that provides a luxurious getaway for four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes.
Outward Hound, the hotel’s pet package, includes use of a designer dog or cat bed and a set of bowls nestled in a miniature Adirondack Chair. The program also includes complimentary, house-made nutty maple bacon dog treats, as well as a guide to local pet-friendly locations, hikes and activities in Lake Placid and the surrounding Adirondack Mountains.
The Smith family, who own Hotel North Woods, wanted to create a pet-friendly package that pet parents feel good about booking – one that puts furry family members first while allowing their people to relax and feel good about including their pet in travel plans.
“Most hotels claiming to be pet-friendly are merely pet-tolerant, that is, they will allow pets in their rooms, but only under certain circumstances, and usually they are an afterthought,” said Garrick Smith, General Manager and part owner of the hotel. “We love our pets, and we know that no matter how great a vacation is, there’s a small piece missing if you can’t bring the whole family with you. That’s why we’ve built a program that truly includes pets as part of the family vacation.”
Of course, pets are welcome in the outside dining areas at Hotel North Woods, as well as in many shops and restaurants along Main Street. Pet friendly locations in the area are listed in the Outward Hound Guide guests receive at check-in.
Guests are allowed up to two pets in each guest room for a $35 pet fee. A portion of every pet fee collected is donated to the Joshua Fund, a local organization that provides financial assistance for dogs with life-threatening medical conditions.
