I travel a lot. A REAL lot. I have been from points A to Z and everywhere in between! Throughout my travels I have developed a deep fondness for certain destinations. Destinations I return to over and over again and Nashville, TN is one of them.
Yes, Nashville is located in what is known as the south’s “bible belt”, but I am happy to report that Nashville has a thriving LGBT community with exciting nightlife and plenty of gay-friendly establishments, such as — Hotel Indigo Nashville Downtown Hotel.
Everything about the Hotel Indigo Nashville oozes style and southern charm.
My wife Jennifer and I were impressed from the moment we stepped inside the printer themed lobby (hotel is located in a restored printing press building).
The hotel is trendy and historic.
I loved the wood decor mixed with bold purples and reds.
The lobby was very welcoming with it’s comfortable seats, perfect for people watching and mapping out your excursions of Music City!
The hotel’s onsite restaurant/bar/lounge – The District Bar & Kitchen was fantastic! The food and drinks were reasonably priced and very good, however, the best part was the live music!
We saw several local musicians playing in the hotel’s intimate lobby bar.
Live music is Monday-Saturday from 7 pm – 10 pm.
Another great feature about Hotel Indigo Nashville is that it is walking distance to all of downtown Nashville’s top attractions and famous Printer’s Alley.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the charismatic bellhop, Shane. This handsome young man took great care of Jennifer and I during out stay, providing helpful tips on what to see and do.
As for the room — we LOVED it! Shane told us that our room was newly remodeled.
It was sleek & comfortable with soft lighting, a beautiful bathroom and plush bed.
Knowing it was my birthday, the hotel surprised me with a welcome gift. How cool is that?

GAY & LESBIAN TRAVEL FACTOR: Nashville is one of the deep South’s most gay friendly destinations. You will find a wide selection of LGBT nightlife options as well as an unlimited amount of gay friendly establishments. Some helpful links include: http://nashville.about.com/od/gaylestransbi/ and http://nashville.gaycities.com/. Mine and Jennifer’s stay at Hotel Indigo Nashville was flawless.
We encountered nothing by friendly service from the moment we checked in. Gay Travel Information was eagerly welcome by the hotel manager. This is truly a property where individuality is not only welcome, but encouraged.
InterContinental Hotels Group, which runs the Hotel Indigo brand, received a score of 90% on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index. The score is based on a company having implemented non-discrimination policies, sexual orientation training, domestic partner health insurance, and company-supported LGBT employee resource groups. I personally “OUT” Hotel Indigo Nashville at LGBT friendly and worthy of our business.
Nashville woos you with it’s party atmosphere! Whether you are two-stepping at some rocking honky-tonk, catching a live concert, dining on Tennessee BBQ or dancing the night away at a gay nightclub….it will never be enough time.
Can’t wait to head back!
