Located in Hollywood, FL, The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa is an impressive, sprawling resort that has everything one could possibly need whether traveling for business or leisure.
The resort has a prime location, situated roughly 15 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, 20 minutes to Miami and less than 1 mile from the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.
When my wife and I arrived for our two nigh stay we were immediately impressed by the lobby’s grandeur, including a 60-foot glass atrium ceiling, exquisite art work and sculptures.
We were booked in a club floor room which provided full access to the exclusive Westin Executive Club Lounge, where we enjoyed daily complimentary continental breakfast, hors d’oeuvres and an evening cocktail.
Our room was immaculate and spacious and had an absolutely breathtaking view of the Intracoastal Waterway.
All rooms at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa are designed with environmental sustainability in mind. Features include recycled carpeting, glass and bedding.
Guest bathrooms feature the new Heavenly Shower II, which creates a luxurious spa-like shower experience that delivers 50% deduction in water consumption.

Of course, one of the best features of the room, was the (truly) Heavenly Bed that provided a “heavenly” sleeping experience for both Jennifer and I! 😉

The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa has SO much to offer that we were only able to touch on a portion during our short stay.
We loved the direct beach access and their two unique outdoor pools. There is a 120-ft infinity pool which has a one-of-a-kind circular, see-through feature and two cascading waterfalls that flow into a 240-ft Lagoon pool below.
You can also rent a pool or beach cabana, upper deck casita, beach lounger, bed or umbrella.

South Florida is one of the most gay friendly destinations in the U.S.! Between Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Key West, this area is a “dream come true” for gay & lesbian travelers. The gay paradise of Fort Lauderdale is less than 10 minutes away and Miami, 20 minutes. Both destinations provide dozens of options when it comes to gay nightlife. The Hollywood / Hollywood Beach area is more low key but extremely gay friendly nonetheless.
Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa welcomed Gay Travel Information with open arms and made us feel right at home from the second we arrived. My wife and I were greeted as “Mrs & Mrs Sousa”, which still makes me smile! As a matter of fact Jennifer and I found ourselves talking about what a great spot the resort would have made for our wedding (we already have recommended the resort to friends of ours getting married next year).
The Starwood Hotel brand, which Westin operates under, earns a top rating on the Human Rights Campaign Equality Index. The company scored a 100 percent rating and is a recipient of the HRC “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” award!
