Hyatt Regency Newport, Rhode Island

Hyatt Regency Newport /1 Goat Island / Newport, RI 02840 / 401-846-7210

Hyatt Regency Newport has an idyllic setting.

The hotel is situated on Goat Island and surrounded by Narragansett Bay, offering the seclusion of a private island, just minutes from downtown Newport.

My partner Jennifer and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend getaway this summer and fell in love with all the hotel has to offer.

It’s funny how you can feels worlds away by crossing a single bridge.

The weather couldn’t have been any more perfect. Sunny, high 70’s, cool breeze.

The lobby has a sleek, modern ambiance and an extremely attentive staff.

We were instantly greeted upon arrival and experienced a quick, effortless check-in process.

I was impressed by the views from the lobby and the expansive bar and sitting areas, not to mention the gorgeous fireplace which I am sure is one of the hotel’s most popular features come winter!

We booked a Captain Quarters King Room for the evening. The room felt extremely spacious at 429 square feet and provided breathtaking views through oversized windows of the Newport Bridge, Narragansett Bay and the boats docked in the marina.

Their Signature Grand Bed was so comfortable it took all our willpower to get up and explore the rest of the property! 😉

The bed features ultra-plush pillows, soft sheets and a thick down blanket.

There is a spacious bath with granite coutertop and Portico bath amenities.

There is also a large work desk with both wired and Wi-Fi high-speed Internet access, duel phone lines, speakerphone, voicemail, video on demand.

You will also find a Hyatt stero with iPod docking station.

Before checking out what the rest of the resort had to offer we headed to dinner at the hotel’s onsite, outside restaurant – Pineapple’s on the Bay

Although we already felt like we were on vacation, we felt like we were TRULY on vacation the second we were seated at this outside oasis.

Between the views, the sunset, the tiki torches, the music, the cool breeze — I felt like I had died and gone to heaven!

Hyatt Regency Newport has outdone themselves with Pineapples on the Bay.

This newly renovated seasonal restaurant is not to be missed. You will enjoy delicious food and unobstructed views of Narragansett Bay and unparalleled sunsets outlined by the iconic Newport Bridge.

Pineapple’s on the Bay serves the freshest seafood, grown locally, salads, sandwiches, soups and regional specialties.

Some night there is even live entertainment!

You can enjoy time by their outdoor fire pit, where kids can make S’mores and a Canon salute right as the sun sets!

For dinner we started with their chips & salsa with a side of guacamole which was extremely fresh.

Jen washed down the chips & salsa with a tasty Sangria which was super fresh and yummy!

Jennifer enjoyed a 1.5 lb lobster for her main entree!

I their Five33 Torpeo sandwich served with shaved beef tenderloin, sauteed mushrooms and jack cheese on a grilled torpedo roll.

Both of the entrees were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious!

For dessert we shared the New England Strawberry Shortcake (sweet biscuit, chantilly cream and fresh strawberries).

It was the perfect ending to the perfect meal!

On the way back to our room we noticed the hotel was showing a movie on their lawn (kid friendly showing of the Disney movie ‘Cars’).

People were laying out on blankets, relaxing and enjoying the perfect summer evening.

We were offered free popcorn and were asked if we wanted to order drinks!

The staff is really on top of their game!

GAY & LESBIAN FACTOR: We found Hyatt Regency to be extremely welcoming and accommodating. The managers I worked with to set up the review were very helpful and excited to be spotlighted on Gay Travel Information. We met up with another gay couple enjoying their time at the hotel from Baltimore. The two men explained how they have been visiting Newport for many years each summer and always stay at Hyatt Regency Newport. With that said, Newport in general is very gay friendly. A popular restaurant is Tucker’s Bistro (150 Broadway – http://www.tuckersbistro.com). The decor alone is worth a visit to this very gay friendly restaurant. It is highly recommended, and not only by Tucker (who use to own a gay bar). Hyatt’s onsite restaurant, The Windward, is also not to be missed and would make a great choice for date night! Click here for more info: http://newport.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels-newport/entertainment/dining_detail.jsp?itemDesc=fboutlet&itemId=1003102. I am without a doubt “OUTING” Hyatt Regency Newport as LGBT friendly and worthy of our business.

Everything about Hyatt Regency Newport is first class. The ambiance. Service. Amenities. Views. Location.

You will not be disappointed!
