Our friends at Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted House in Ulster Park, NY, recently informed us of this fantastic campaign they are involved in to stop bullying in schools called Don’t Be A Monster.

Don’t Be A Monster is an anti-bullying campaign founded by Imagine Better Inc. to raise awareness of bullying by giving a free, 30-minute presentation to local middle schools.
The campaign originated in San Antonio, TX in 2012 where the 13th Floor Haunted House and city Year San Antonio spread the anti-bullying message “Monsters belong in a haunted house – don’t be a monster!” to over 5,000 students during the month of October.
This year, Don’t Be A Monster is expanding into seven other markets including: Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted House, 13th Floor Haunted House, House of Torment Haunted House, Netherworld Haunted House, Erebus Haunted Attraction and more.
Each of the houses has partnered with various non-profits that support anti-bullying messages and initiatives. Non-profit organizations include City Year, Communities In Schools and Choices Empowerment Program.
In addition, Imagine Better Inc. has produced an educational video featuring an original character, Frank Shelly, a Frankenstein-inspired young monster who suffers from bullying in school. Frank’s character will be present at the schools as a “special guest,” interacting with the students and providing a fun, educational way for students to learn about the dangers of bullying.
Don’t Be A Monster presentations will be held during September and October 2013, in accordance with National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month and the Halloween Season. Don’t Be A Monster will present to 10 middle schools in each market.

In 2013 guests travel on a one-mile hayride journey witnessing their futures unveiled as a fortune teller reads from a cursed deck of Tarot Cards.
The haunted attractions also include: The Lunar Motel, Glutton’s Slaughter House, The Root Cellar, Dark Harvest Corn Maze, Nightshade Greenhouse, Dr. Dark’s Black Spider Sideshow, The Feeding, Dahlia Blood’s Manor, and a magic/illusion show.
