Bonefish Grill’s motto is to embrace happiness, laugh more and worry less. To swap out boredom and routine for an inspired dinner and to open your eyes.

After dining at the new Bonefish Grill in Cranston, Rhode Island, I can honestly say those are not just words.

It is truly the experience they provide.

Bonefish Grill is located in Chapel View lifestyle Center, which offers an upscale, vibrant mix of retail, office and residential experiences.

The Bonefish Grill works perfectly here.

The first things my wife, Jennifer, and I noticed upon entering Bonefish Grill on a recent Tuesday night was how busy and energetic the vibe was. We  also loved the soft, soothing lighting, earth tones and slight Pacific Rim / tropical feel.

It had that big city, “steakhouse” vibe with a classy, yet relaxed, super friendly atmosphere.

There was a great mix of people including couples, families with children and the after work crowd.

Our waiter, Ryan, was very friendly and took great care of us, as did managing partner, Bryan Schosker and manager, Cathy Lohrman.

Cathy made sure to check on Jennifer and I throughout the evening ensuring our experience was enjoyable and Bryan came out from the back to personally greet us.

Service says so much about a place and the service at Bonefish Grill was top notch!

Ryan, an Oregon native, moved to the area in December and has been working at Bonefish since opening. I could tell how much he loved the company as he went over the menu and night’s specials.

There were so many delicious options! I am sure Jen and I will slowly work our way though all of them as this will NOT be our last visit to Bonefish Grill.

For an appetizer we chose the Wagyu Beef + Ginger Beef Dumplings (pan-seared with crispy shallots, Thai peppers and soy sauce).

This was a very wise decision as they were absolutely delicious!

The dipping sauce was so good we chose to hang on to it and, thanks to manager Cathy’s recommendation, and use it to dip our bread in (although the pesto infused oil that was served with the bread was also good.)

Jen and I also shared the Bonefish House Salad (made with hearts of palm, Kalamata olives, tomatoes and citrus herb vinaigrette).

The salad was extremely fresh and the vinaigrette was subtle and just…..delicious.

For our main entrees Jennifer ordered the Fresh Cod Imperial (stuffed with shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lemon caper butter).

I ordered the Filet Mignon (USDA Choice “center cut” 8 oz with garlic Gorgonzola butter).

When I tell you both our meals were one of the best we have had in quite some time, that is an understatement.

My steak was extremely moist and flavorful with the garlic Gorgonzola butter, and, sorry to be cliche, but it literally melted in my mouth!

Jen’s Fresh Cod Imperial was overflowing with generous amounts of mouth watering shrimp, scallops and crab meat.

She said the fish was so fresh it tasted “right off the boat” and was balanced with just the right seasoning.

For sides we both enjoyed the garlic whipped potatoes and veggies.

My vegetable of choice was the French green beans (Haricot Verts). Jen had the day’s special vegetable medley which consisted of chickpeas, sausage, tomatoes and spinach.

Both were delicious.

Everything had two things in common – QUALITY and FLAVOR. The quality of the seafood and meats mixed with the seasonings were absolute perfection.

Bonefish Grill also has some incredible drinks, including the one Jennifer ordered, the (seasonal) Hawaiian Martini (Cruzan Guava Rum, coconut water, fresh lime, pineapple juice + the island flavors of desert pear and coconut. Garnished in true Hawaiian- style with a floating orchid!)

Jen said they somehow managed to “Put Hawaii in a glass!”

I think the photos speak for themselves! 😉

And, of  course we just HAD to try desert! 😉

I ordered one of the restaurant’s specials that evening –  the Strawberry Shortcake and Jen ordered the Macadamia Nut Brownie (flourless brownie, raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream.)

I was truly blown way by how delicious the strawberry shortcake was! The biscuit was light (not buttery and pasty like most), the whipped cream was homemade and the strawberries were fresh, huge and incredibly sweet.

The Macadamia Nut Brownie was HUGE and fluffy! Jen couldn’t get enough of it and said it was absolutely amazing.

That seemed to be the theme of the night — AMAZING.

Amazing food, service and ambiance. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

HISTORY: Fueled by their mutual passion for fish and adventure, the founders of Bonefish Grill set out to create a unique dining experience. One that would take the mystery out of fish for people who didn’t eat it very often, and yet provide further mystery for the truly adventurous. In their search to find fish from the waters of the world, they hunted down fish purveyors with the same commitment to quality as theirs. They hired a responsible “fish guy” who never stops traveling in search of unique species.

Today, the founders’ ritual of receiving, inspecting and hand cutting fish daily is still practiced by the partners at Bonefish Grill. As is their commitment to quality and excellence at every level.

In January 2000 the first Bonefish Grill opened in St. Petersburg, Florida. The success of their vision has generated restaurant growth that has taken them throughout the Southeast and Northeastern coasts, and today, Bonefish Grill has begun expanding throughout the U.S.

GAY & LESBIAN FACTOR: Gay Travel Information only reviews places / events we feel are an exceptional value and has a truly accepting environment. This is clearly the case with Bonefish Grill. Managing Partner, Bryan Schosker, was extremely gracious to Gay Travel Information when we approached him about spotlighting his restaurant on our web site. Bonefish Grill is urban, hip and casually upscale. It provides a great environment for gathering with friends, enjoying a romantic meal night out or celebrating a special event. My wife and I felt extremely comfortable here and couldn’t wait to share our experience with family, friends and, of course, our readers! The night was fabulous from beginning to end. We proudly “OUT” Bonefish Grill as Lgbt friendly and worthy of our business.

Rhode Island has another restaurant superstar to add to their list! I know Bonefish Grill will be around for years to come.

On their web site they say, “Happiness starts when you walk in the door.”

I’d like to add, the happiness lingers and makes you anticipate your return.
