Gay Travel – Tipsy Toboggan Fireside Pub – Fall River, MA

Tipsy Toboggan Fireside Pub / 75 Ferry Street / Fall River, MA 02721 / 508-567-0550
The Tipsy Toboggan Fireside Pub, located in Fall River, MA (well known for Lizzie Borden, Portuguese Culture, and Battleship Cove), will make you feel as if you have been transported to a rustic Après-ski hangout in some hip ski town.
I felt my excitement rise as my partner Jennifer and I approached the main entrance. You know a place is going to be special when you see a moosehead doorknob! 😉
Upon entering I was immediately struck by the stunning wood burning fireplace and amazing smell of crackling firewood.
This commanding structure instantly sets the “laid back – give me a beer” vibe and caused me to have all sorts of warm/fuzzy feelings!
It reminded me of the Après-ski pubs I frequented during my travels to places such as Aspen, Breckenridge, Park City and Stowe.
This is NOT a chain restaurant my friends. This is an authentic ski lodge-pub…..right here in Fall River, MA!
FINALLY!!!! I have been waiting patiently for a place like to this to open in the MA / RI area!
I appreciate all of the Tipsy Toboggan’s details, such as the perfectly placed ski’s.
The etched snow capped mountains on glass.
The toboggan above the fireplace.
The huge 90-inch flat screen TV playing ski movies.
The gorgeous antler chandeliers.
The Adirondack styled furnishings.
The exposed brick walls and wood beam ceilings.
The colorful ski prints, Christmas decorations,
and obligatory moose head overlooking the bar.

Within seconds of being seated I overheard two women tell a waitress that this was the third time visiting Tipsy Toboggan since its opening night, roughly 2 weeks ago. They went on to say how much they loved the food and ambiance. Sentiments I most definitely share.
Not only will you find a truly atmospheric restaurant with great food, you will also find a hopping bar and tables right in front of the fireplace (perfect for romantic dates or mingling with friends). The Tipsy Toboggan also provides free WiFi for your convenience.
Then there is the acoustic entertainment four nights a week! Wednesday / Thursday 6-10 PM and Friday / Saturday 7-11 PM. As of now they don’t have live entertainment on Sunday or Monday’s due to football season (Go Patriots)! 😉
My partner Jennifer and I were lucky to be there while Matt Mckay and Debbie Lewis performed. This easy going duo was extremely talented and belted out tunes ranging from Leonard Cohen to Fleetwood Mac.

Jen and I looked at each other and both agreed that it felt like we were on vacation (don’t you love when a place transports you like that)?
We also agreed that we would be back again and again which is something the owners of Tipsy Toboggan (and the seasonal, Key West inspired – Tipsy Seagull – located blocks away on Borden Light Marina) must be use to because they even offer a frequent diners card! Nice! You get $15 for every 200 points you earn and, as our waitress told us, points add up quickly!
The Tipsy Toboggan’s open floor dining room allows patrons to enjoy their charming wood burning fireplace, live acoustic entertainment, and deliciously crafted menu items from any seat in the house. An absolutely brilliant design!
Now let’s talk about the food, shall we?
For an appetizer we ordered the Swedish Meatballs (tender meatballs with a traditional savory sauce).
The meatballs were delicious and flavored to perfection. The subtle sweetness of the sauce complimented the meatball’s herb & spice flavoring. Jen and I devoured these in record speed! 😉
For entrees we wanted to choose common pub favorites, so I chose the Base Lodge Burger (1/2 pound Certified Angus Beef char-grilled with sharp cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli, luttace & tomato. Serviced with hand cut fries) and Jen chose the Beer Battered Fish and Chips (Fresh located haddock lightly beer battered & served with hand cut fries, tartar and slaw).
Both entrees were very good! The burger had that delicious-fresh-off-the-grill taste and was cooked perfectly for my well-done preference.
The fish was a generous portion with delicious light batter.
Two thumbs up for food!
For dessert we were informed of a new S’mores brownie-like option (which wasn’t on the menu).
It sounded too good to pass up! The S’mores dessert hit the spot with its huge chunks of chocolate, whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
Jen also enjoyed Tipsy Toboggan’s Sex on the Slopes cocktail (made with Smirnoff Passion Fruit Vodka, splash of Blue Curaco, cranberry and pineapple juice).
This awesome named drink was delicious and packed a bit of a punch! 😉
As for service, well, that too was excellent! It’s the little things that make a huge difference. Like the waiter who gave us clean (cloth) napkins and silverware after we finished our appetizers or how our waitress checked on us several times during dinner. Even the assistant manager, Erica, stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking.

GAY & LESBIAN FACTOR: The Tipsy Toboggan’s manager, Lindsey, was extremely gracious and welcoming to Gay Travel Information. I felt a genuine sense of respect for what I do and an eager attitude to be spotlighted on our site. I felt extremely comfortable sitting side-by-side with Jennifer, flirting and just enjoying the ambiance. We even ran into some friends of ours that happen to stop by as we were leaving! This is a great date spot (or night out with friends). The staff made us feel right at home and I could think of no reason why they shouldn’t have our support. I am definitely “OUTING” The Tipsy Toboggan as LGBT friendly and worthy of our business.
The Tipsy Toboggan Fireside Pub is by far my favorite new restaurant! It is as if someone designed the restaurant of my dreams.
Don your favorite ski sweater, grab someone to get a little tipsy with and check this place out for yourself!
You won’t be disappointed!
