Lake Placid Pub & Brewery – Lake Placid, NY

Lake Placid Pub & Brewery / 813 Mirror Lake Drive / Lake Placid, NY 12946 / 518-523-3813
On a recent trip to Lake Placid my partner and I found the perfect spot to grab a bite and enjoy a cold beer…..The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery.

The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery’s slogan is “Real Town. Real Beer.” That is exactly the vibe that this cozy neighborhood pub evokes.

The laid back atmosphere is the perfect stop after an afternoon of exploring the rugged Adirondacks.

During warmer months you can sit outside and during the winter warm up by their roaring fireplace.

We were lucky to have warm weather during our April visit, but we chose to sit inside and take in the collegiate sports atmosphere!

Lake Placid Pub & Brewery would be the perfect spot to watch a game!
Our waiter, Tim, was extremely friendly and informed us that they had 6 beers on tap, including their flagship beer, Ubu Ale (named after a patron’s friendly chocolate lab).

According to Lake Placid Brewery’s web site, they have been brewing award-winning ales and lagers for more than 16 years and have expanded rapidly due to its popularity and quality. Over the years they have brewed almost 80 different styles of beer and brew almost 300,000 pints of beer annually, placing them in the top 7% of brewpubs nationwide. In addition they have won the “Best Brewery in the Hudson Valley” (region ranges from Plattsburgh to NYC) on several occasions and have been selected “The Best Brewery in New York State” twice.

You can find a complete list of their awards HERE

Jen tried their famous English strong ale which had a deep garnet red color, smooth hardy taste and a nice rich, strong, full flavor.

Their menu consists of pub classics including cheeseburgers, BBQ ribs, wings, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, Cobb Salad, Steak Salad, Chipotle Chicken Wrap, Pulled Pork Sandwiches and more.

For an appetizer we tried their pub style pretzel nuggets which were served with a side of hot dipping cheese.
They were so incredibly yummy that I made sounds that caused Jen to blush! 😉

For our main entrees I decided to try a comfort food classic, grilled cheese and tomato basil soup! Yum!

Jennifer ordered their hot turkey dinner with roasted homemade gravy, homemade stuffing, Yukon gold mashed potatoes and a side of cranberry sauce.

We were beyond impressed with the portion size and quality of their food! We have been to many pubs and most are fast service at best, the food served at Lake Placid Pub & Brewery is more than a step beyond…..they are down right delicious!

My grilled cheese and tomato soup was pure perfection, however, the real star was Jen’s turkey dinner!

Look at this!!

How many pubs do you know of that serve such quality food?

The portion was HUGE and could easily feed two people, not to mention it was absolutely delicious!

And, even though no words could describe how full we were, we still had to try the S’mores dessert!
I mean, c’mon!? How could we pass this up?

The S’mores dessert is served on a “poo-poo platter” with graham crackers, Hershey’s chocolate bars and marshmallows. I have said it before and I will say it again, there is something just FUN about holding a marshmallow over an open flame and watching it catch fire! It doesn’t matter what age you are! 😉

And yes, it goes without saying that this dessert gets two thumbs up! I actually wish I was eating it right now!

EVENTS:

GAY & LESBIAN FACTOR: The owner, Christopher Ericson, was extremely gracious and welcoming to my partner Jennifer and I. We truly felt as if he was proud to let the LGBT community know about his pub and brewery and just how welcome everyone is. We actually found this true with the Lake Placid region in general. The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery would be the perfect stop for a quick bite, cold drink, to watch a game, hang out and enjoy delicious food and drinks. We felt very comfortable and would return in a heartbeat. With that said I am “OUTING” Lake Placid Pub & Brewery as LGBT friendly and worthy of our business.

Jennifer and I still talk about how good the food and drinks were! When you walk into a pub you expect TV’s, a bar, beer and some rowdy (yet pleasant) game viewing.

What you don’t expect is down home cooking, worthy of a higher end restaurant. That is what you will find at Lake Placid Pub & Brewery.

Go for the beer, be surprised by the food and love the atmosphere.

Like us, I assure you that you will look forward to your return.
